Help Goonie find a better job

Before you ask, no I'm not quitting real estate.

But through all this, I've had a "regular" job with my broker, recruiting other agents, and (after a serious staff cut) now both recruiting and acting as an admin assistant (talk about a step back! But at least my pay stayed the same).

Not what I'd call fulfilling. The pay's been "okay" considering I've been allowed the freedom to also sell real estate, but it's not great ($16.30/hr). Since we're not really expecting the action in the market to heat up until about 3rd quarter of next year, I'm starting to think I need to make some adjustments. (Did I mention our mortgage adjustment is looming? Hehehe... good times, good times.) (And no, I haven't lost my "regular" job... I just want something better.)

Ideally, I'd like something managerial or more creatively fulfilling. I will gladly PM my resume to anyone who thinks they know of anything good. I have experience in everything from airline operations to segment producing a cable show (and a few more things besides) so if you know of anything interesting that makes more than I'm making now, please run it by me!

I wish you the best of luck and I hope you find something fulfilling, fun and creative.
I have been where you're at many, many times and I can relate.
You'll find something.
:)

I'll take you out as a PA sometime on one of my shoots so you can see how I work and what I do.

If it works out, we can see about trying you out on second camera on some paid gigs that would pay $20-$25 an hour working under my direction.

I have to warn you though as honestly as I can - I'm very hard-assed and particular when it comes to shoots. I like to work with people who are "commando" out there - not afraid to sweat, get dirty, and be extremely physical (ENG style), even in the blaring hot sun. My shoot ratio is very high - usually 45 minutes per hour, and that other 15 minutes is usually spent with blocking and set-up. I think Ken only puts up with me because he's my husband. And, it takes about 2 days to recover from a full day of shooting. It's like playing hard-core MouseAdventure with added weights. ;)

Good luck on finding a new job. Been there, too, as GC said.

Every way you turn there is an open door!

Best of luck! I can't help but I pray that it all works out for the best! :)

Prostitution pays well and the hours are flexible

Yes...and flexibility really helps, too.

Wow, that offer from you DP is awesome. It sounds like you really bust your butt!!

Gemini Cricket 11-12-2007 10:48 AM

DP's shoot sounds fun. I haven't gone commando like that since college.
:)

Thanks for the suggestion Kevy, but I think I'll take Dphile's offer ;)

But seriously, I'm also considering full-time stuff if the right thing comes along...

I seriously would look into joining a larger, older corporation. The pay and benefits are usually competitive and you'll be positioned in a good place for promotion when the mass of baby boomers begin to retire.
