Notice of application to sell alcohol IN Disneyland on display

This isn't a joke. I saw the posted notice when I left this evening. They have the legal notice up, and next to it, a Disney-produced sign explaining that their catering division handles private parties and special events, and that is what they want the license for.

Yeah, currently they get individual one-time liquor licenses for all the private parties held in venues outside of Club 33. Apparently they've finally decided that is too much of a pain in the butt (and is why alcohol at those things is always restricted to a small particular venue even if the party is in a larger area).

Then I guess the question is whether they'd be tempted to use the license outside of these private parties.

A real bar at the Golden Horseshoe, Rum on the Island in the Blue Bayou and a Beer Garden by the Matterhorn would be nice. Change the Village Haus to a German-themed restaurant with sausages and steins of beer. Shrimp on the barbie & beer by the subs. Honey Ale or mead by Pooh would be proper theming.

How about a Mardi Gras themed bar in NOS. It could serve hurricanes in those yard-long glasses. And there could be AAs (how appropriate!) that stand outside the bar, flashing various body parts for beads, and another one that periodically vomits in the corner…

…Or not….

And a place to smoke out with the caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland.

Which reminds me, what happened to the caterpillar that used to be on the shroom in the queue for the Alice ride? Only thing left are feet/shoes which I find disturbing. I'm assuming they removed him because he's smoking, right? Not like he's not smoking and blowing rings inside the ride.....or anything

Seems a slippery slope to me. First it's, "Oh we'll only be doing it for private parties" then they'll start doing it for "special events" like merch events, then the argument will be "oh well we already do it for private parties and special events, so serving it during the day is no big deal".

Harumph.

Walt must be rolling over in his grave. He refused to sell alcohol in his parks.

Well, some people already spike their own Dole Whip floats, so they might as well sell it, because there are some who can't go even a few minutes without the alcohol. Might as well make a buck or twenty off them.

I would be appalled at the decision though, but I wouldn't mind if they offered wine pairings at Blue Bayou. Most people wouldn't hope to get plastered from a glass of wine at dinner.
