Movie Version Not Needed, Thank You

Do you think that there are certain stories out there that should never be made into a movie?
Or do you think there was a film adaptation of something that shouldn't have been made into a movie?

Where the Wild Things Are is being made into a movie. This is one of my all-time favorite stories. I'm opposed to the idea that it is now going to be movie-ized.

There's not a lot of material there for it to be stretched into 90 minutes. Which means there will be a lot added to it that could take away from the story's simplicity.

When I first read "Brokeback" in 97 or so, I couldn't imagine it being a film. But I was plesantly surprised. But if it had never been a film, I would have been okay with that.

Oh, I love Spike Jonze's films so I'd be interested in seeing what he does with any material, even when it's made of such great mettle as WtWTA.

As far as other as-yet-un-adapted books that have the potential to unnerve me as films... A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius tops my list.

I think it's difficult to take something you love - be it a book or whatever and someone makes it into thier vision. It goes back to using your imagination to create in your mind what's on the page and most of the time it never adds up. At least with me.

Battlefield Earth should never have been made into a movie. I loved the book, and the movie was the most craptastic piece of junk I've ever had the misfortune of seeing.

That story was too complex to ever summarize in one film.

There a many books I feel and felt should never be made into movies. But I'm glad filmmakers aren't limited by my lack of imagination. There are plenty of books I thought would make horrible movies that turn out fine.

And a lot more that turned out awful. But I'll take the failures as compensation for the occasional successes.

I would be surprised if anyone could ever make a good movie version of One Hundred Years of Solitude.

I would like to see someone making a movie version of the dictionary.

Unabridged of course.

"Vagina Monologues: The Movie" would look interesting on billboards.

A mainstream movie version of "Everyone Poops" (2girls1cup doesn't count!)
