Bare Escentials Novice mistake!
So I followed the videos and my make-up looked great that day and the next. The 3rd day I went to put on warmth and it looked like I spend 4 hours under tanning lights. I re-did and got the same effects. Then yesterday and today it looks like I am not wearing any make-up, like I didn't apply it right.
Help? |
I just got your message tonight! I'm here to the rescue!! (Although I'm sure you'll get lots of friendly tips besides just mine!) :)
Here's how I use Warmth (because it is a very tricky mineral!) First, I use the i.d. BareMinerals Retractable Brush. It's much like the Flawless Application Brush (which is included in your kit), except it comes in a nifty silver tube perfect for your cosmetic bag or handbag. When I open the jar of Warmth, I dip my brush inside just a teensy bit, and then tap the excess minerals off into the jar lid. Then, leaving just the smallest amount on my brush, I blow! The BRUSH!! :p Once I've softly blown the excess minerals off of my brush, I'm ready to apply! I swirl it softly onto the apples of my cheeks for a sunny glow, and then quickly dust it across the bridge of my nose. That part is the most tricky- just a skoche too much, and my nose is glowing- not alá St. Barts, but rather alá Rudolph. :( I also like to use Warmth as a contour below my cheekbones. You can apply Warmth a little more liberally in that case, but it's still best to use just a speckle. That's all I ever use! My favorite combo is Warmth partnered up with Clear Radiance! Clear Radiance is a Multi-Tasking Mineral that appears as a baby pink shimmer in the jar, but once applied looks dewy & incandescent. Your skin just glistens! I sweep that across the apples of my cheeks, the bridge of my nose & eyelids, sometimes dipping my finger into mix it with my lipbalm. It really softens the look of Warmth, and I find it's much more user friendly, as well as more friendly to all skin tones. Whew! I hope I helped! :) I provided links for the Retractable Brush & Clear Radiance. i.d. bareMinerals Multi-Tasking Minerals Flawless Application Retractable Face Brush I'm sure you look just gorgeous, BarTopDancer, and you'lll be glowing in no time! :) :snap: |
I can't use Warmth. The barest amount (get it? barest?) makes me look weird and gold. It's my skin tone....I need more pink because I'm an olive-tone.
Glee looks like more of my color. But Warmth isn't for everyone, I think. ;) |
Thank you AllyBell and Claire!!!!!!!
It sounds like I was using too much and applying it wrong. D'oH! I'll try applying it to the apples of my cheeks (where are those? :p ). Of course you can just show me on Saturday. ;) |
You're welcome! :)
Smile, BarTopDancer! :D See the part of your cheeks that puffs up? Those are your "apples". Even better? <-- this little fella has glowing "apples". One tip I forgot to share! I apply Warmth before applying my Mineral Veil (I believe this is also how Leslie applies Warmth on the Intructional DVD.) It makes such a difference! This way, it gives you a natural, sunkissed look rather then a shiny, faux glow. I apply my foundation in Light, dust Warmth lightly across the apples of my cheeks and the bridge of my nose (sometimes, I sweep a little across my chin) and then set with Mineral Veil. Next, I like to use Glee as a blush. Claire, you'll love Glee! It's a warm, mocha rose shade & I absolutely love that it looks much like the color your cheeks radiate when your are naturally happy. :) Clear Radiance is also a friendly-for-all-tones shade. I cannot recommend that product enough! :) |
You know, Ally, if you're wearing Light, what the heck would I wear? Do they have a shade called Ghost? I just realized that. I don't want to look tan. I avoid tanning like the plague!
Anyways, sorry to interrupt BTD's thread, but I had to spew. |
NA, I they make fairly light which is just right for my skin tone (and I've gotten pretty dang pale (almost transparent) since the last time you saw me). I think light would work on you. Light would make me look like I had a summer glow. They also have differnet shades of light with different undertones.
