Haunted Mansion Gets a Script...

In all my visits to Disneyland, I've never heard a cast member say anything as I entered the building, entered or exited the elevator, or stepped into a buggy. Hmm.

"For the best viewing of our gallery, please drag your bodies away from the walls...into the dead center of the room."

Aaaargh, who was "offended" by that?!

Though a few of the CM's would be served by those acting classes....

And political correctness strikes again.

Though to be fair, I haven't seen a decent CM there that looked like they enjoyed the job in the least since Maynard was working there. They could learn a lot from the crew at DLP. They put on a hell of a show.

Acting lessons seem like a work perk, assuming that many of them are aspiring actors. But, seriously, who are these offended patrons? I want their names and addresses.

I am offended that they are scripting this.

Yeah, it's been ages (years?) since I've met up with a CM at the Mansion who was actually in character. I'm glad they're beefing it up, I just hope the script isn't lame. Why should Skippers have all the fun - let CMs be, well, CMs and give them true parts to play.

I've seen some try (in the lobby and elivator only), but not like (as mentioned) Manyard. However, once in the late 70's /early 80's I remeber seeing a suit of armor standing in the elevator. Then just as the elivator was emptying, it came to life and was walking around. It freaked people out, no one realized it was a CM! It was very cool, but it was the one and only time I saw that.

I rode once when the suit of armor in the ride was actually an outfitted CM who jumped out at my buggy as we passed. One and only time that ride actually scared me.

Our last trip we had an awesome group of CM's working the attraction....they were actually 'in character' and working the attraction to the fullest...my favorite CM (and it sux I didn't get to see his name tag for a kudos at City Hall) was really into the spirit of the layover and HM in general. We wanted to thank him on our way out but it was just to crowded to get near enough without distracting from the show so we just thanked the ones nearest to us and rolled out down the HCA entrance/exit...and sort of 'lingered' to hear him do his bit one more time....I think scripts will make it less fun because it will be too predictible :(

Boo. I like the ad-lib stuff. It's spooky and fun, and you don't quite know what you're going to get. Maybe they could use a push to actually have a character, but that's a separate issue.

Scripts are boring.
