Vanity Fair tribute to Hitchcock

As a fan of classic film, classic fashion, classic photography, and lighting effects, I definitely enjoyed this series of photos, all nods to Hitch films with current actors. (Not as terrific as the original films or actors themselves, but definitely a fun exercise nonetheless.)

Some examples...

Emile Hirsch and James MacAvoy, Strangers on a Train

Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert Downey Jr, To Catch A Thief

Keira Knightley, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Rebecca

I love these. The site sucks balls though. The thumbnails obscure the photos!

All I get is Red Exs, so I'll have to try later from a different computer.

Yeah, I'm not happy with it either - but if you go to "full-screen," I believe, they will go away.

Seth Rogan as Cary Grant in North by Northwest is an interesting choice (haven't actually seen the picture yet, though, just heard about it).

Full screen works! Thanks.

Also, better on ohnotheydidn't.

These are great.
A lot of nice casting choices.
:)

Thanks, the ohnotheydidnt's worked for me.

Hahahahahah Eva Marie Saint in the Lifeboat shot! Classic. As far as I know, the only real Hitchcock actor in the bunch. But the casting was otherwise great in all the shots.

OMG, I love Jodie Foster as Tippi Hedren in The Birds. YUM - Scarlette Johansson as Grace Kelly in Rear Window. Too many other good ones to mention.

I think the series begs comparison with the recent Disney, Alice, Oz stuff done by whatsherface. I don't think these work out as well. They are too literal as actual images from the Hitchcock films. Perhaps it could not have been done any other way, since these are specific films and not just general stories.

Really fun series, though. I may run out and buy Vanity Fair.

I especially like the more unusual ones ... Marian Cotillard's triptich of Psycho, and the recreation of filming Lifeboat rather than an actual image from Lifeboat. These were nice touches that broke up the otherwise literal translations.
