Funeral horses stampede, overturn hearse

Yeah, it's sad and tragic, but I like laughing at other people's pain.

LONDON - A hearse overturned when the horses pulling it to a south London cemetery stampeded, dragging the carriage and coffin past appalled relatives and sending floral tributes flying.

"It was dreadful," a mourner told the South London Press. "The horses dragged the carriage to the cemetery on its side, tossing the coffin all over the place and destroying all the flowers inside.

"Some people got very angry and had to be restrained by other mourners... It is understandable given the circumstances. I'm horrified that something like this could happen."

Police were called to calm angry mourners so that the funeral last month could go ahead.

The carriage appeared to have clipped a mini-roundabout as it entered Lambeth Cemetery for the funeral, the local council which administers the graveyard said on Friday.

oh I dunno. when Im ready to rocket down that road, I think I could laugh a good long time in the afterlife knowing I went out creating such a stir.

in fact, I may add 'dragged off kicking and screaming to the graveyard behind two speeding horses' to my final arrangements. that or that really cook viking funeral thing.

Sounds like something I'd expect to happen at my funeral! I'm surprised at people being angry- it's not like the horses knew the deceased or have any expectations of treating them with respect. They're just horses, and when something goes wonky, they run. It's what they do.

I'm always shocked by the behavior of humans. An exercise I did in class with an event planner, involved my playing event planner and staying cool under complaint pressures. People really get upset about uncontrollable stuff - yet, it could be said that those who arranged the procession should have taken the possibility into account and either securing the coffin, not using horses while entering.. it's hard to say. The utmost of care needs to be given at what is typically a sensitive time for most.

Me, after hoping everyone that was living was safe, I'd laugh a bit. It's why I'm getting cremated. Why all the fuss?

That's how I want my funeral to be.
