Napa Rose - not so bad

I am only posting this because the last few things I've read and/or discussed about Napa Rose have been less than stellar if not down right disappointing.

Susan and I took a spontaneous trip there for dinner last night. No regular seating was available, but we were able to snag one of the FCFS overflow tables in the bar (if it had a tablecloth on it, you could order full dinner: no tablecloth meant appetizers and desert only).

We enjoyed a Beach Rock appetizer for two (a very fun appetizer), Susan had Salmon and I had a steak, Susan had donuts and hot chocolate (which really must have been a melted chocolate bar - freakin' awesome!!!) and I had flowerless cake, double chocolate chunk ice cream with chocolate sauce (and a cup of coffee). And we shared a bottle of Aia Cabernet.

All were phenomenal! And the service was good especially considering we were in the bar. (And the waitress was really cute!)

So, Napa Rose was worth it.

Good to hear! Although I am still on the fence about making a return engagement, I should be fair and give them another shot, that chocolate looks amazing.

that i never made it there during the spongecake dessert era means i'll likely never bother to have the pleasure.

Sounds like they were taking a little Spanish influence with the 'donuts and hot chocolate.' In Spain, they serve churros, but not like the kind you get at state fairs and in the park, but basically simple donuts with sugar over it. The 'hot chocolate' is literally that, hot chocolate, not much added to it. Thick, it is perfect for dipping and sipping, and was one of my favorite memories from Espaņa...

According to our waitress, it should be making a return engagement. Though she could not give a time frame, it IS one of the menu favorites and they are changing out the menu every 6-9 months.

There is still hope!

Snowflake - I always seem to have good luck at Napa Rose - you should come with us next time. ;)

We've never eaten there- maybe when we come down in April we can have a Napa swanking? We'll make Kevy pay if it sucks.:D

Let's make Kevy pay anyway. :D
