Small truths
More food should come with powdered sugar and jelly
I realized this after enjoying the Monte Carlo waffle thing Cafe Orleans serves at breakfast. You'll dance better in a swirly skirt Okay, this may not apply to the men I dance with, but it definitely works for me. More polka dots At the dance last night Bridget was wearing red and white patent dance shoes, very cute, and appropriate for the Valentine's Day themed dance. Then I noticed the red part of the shoes had white polka dots. Where can I get some? There should be violins Prairie Home Companion this week featured musicians from Indiana University: their chamber orchestra, a group of teen-age violinists. They incorporated strings into all the music in the show and the depth and beauty it added to simple songs was incredible. |

MBCs whanker is small, and that's the truth.
Oh wait....I think I missed the point of this thread. |
My, my- Scaeagles is spoiling for a fight....:D First, the anti-Oscar comment in LS's thread, and now dissin' MBC's johnson? I think he's cranky because he sees a Democrat Prez on the horizon......
Or, he's PMS'ing. It can happen. |
The Oscars comment wasn't mean.....no meaner than the anti-Superbowl comments. I just don't get the whole concept of celebrity worship or of celebrities patting each other on the back for pretty much meaningless work in films.
And with the title of a thread called "small truths"....what else is going to pop into my mind???? |

Like I said in the other thread, it isn't about celebrity for me. But, damn. If you think the amount of time and energy that goes into a film is "pretty much meaningless"... well... I don't even know what to say to you. If it's the films that you think are meaningless, well, that's fair, because I still don't understand the meaning of basketball, and we'll never agree on either matter. So in that light, we're both right. Sports have a great deal of meaning for some people and not others, movies have a great deal of meaning for some people and not others. If, on the other hand, you think the work is meaningless... if you think that filmmakers don't work extremely hard to even get to a place where they have the platform to tell their stories and be able to make them... let alone the time and energy it takes to actually create them, let alone the singular skills that have to occur in so many separate people in order to ensure a film's quality... well, there's where you're definitely wrong. Because from my perspective, as someone who's working pretty hard in my off hours to make it to that platform where I'm able to make my own, as well as someone who, during my offICE hours, works pretty hard to support the film studios, and as someone whose husband just had a major credit on a small art-house film on which he worked extremely hard... it's a great, great deal of work for us - and we find it very meaningful. So when others are able to make great films - or even truly interesting but flawed ones - we see them. We cheer them. And we watch with fascination just how they're received by the film community. |
Oh sure, LSPE, defend the damn movies when this guy is making unprovoked attacks on yours truly.
I expect that this is simply the new cranky scaeagles as he contemplates having to vote for McCain. And food for thought (sorry): If I were small, he wouldn't have needed to be fitted with a ham. The defense rests. |
Well, McCain does have an anger issue- perhaps Scaeagles is merely paying homage to his new political leader.;)
LS- well said!! :snap: |
