Power out in most of Florida.

CNN is reporting massive power outages in southern Florida from Orlando to Miami.

Does anyone know if WDW is included?

Humm the WDW webcam is down...

I dunno, but my family is there right now (and I'm flying out to meet them tomorrow.) So I hope not!

That doesn't appear to be live though, so it might not be a good indicator of the power state:

Is this a LIVE web cam? Of course not.
from here

although if they simulated the power outage, that would be impressive.

hmm.... WDW does have like 3 power providers... so if one went down they can draw from another... as far as i know most if not all of TECO power territories were still operational... and disney does get some power from TECO.

Maybe they should consider finally getting around to building their own nuclear power plant.

As promised in Walt's original plans for Epcot.

You know, the industry is expecting a resurgance of Nuclear it being more carbon freindly and all...

I get my power from a nuke plant... the only problem with nuke plants is the waste... and no one really wants the waste in their state.

Alex 02-26-2008 02:42 PM

True, but generally, waste is the only problem with the other forms of power plants as well.

What is interesting to me is that many will support hydroelectric and coal plants over nuclear when the first two do their environmental damage by design while the latter does it only when things go horribly wrong.

I'd much prefer to live next door to a nuclear plant than a coal powered plant.

Of course, it looks like the nuclear plant is the source of the today's problems.
