Moses! Moses! Moses!

Moses High on Drugs
Quote:

JERUSALEM (AFP) - High on Mount Sinai, Moses was on psychedelic drugs when he heard God deliver the Ten Commandments, an Israeli researcher claimed in a study published this week.

[...]

"As far Moses on Mount Sinai is concerned, it was either a supernatural cosmic event, which I don't believe, or a legend, which I don't believe either, or finally, and this is very probable, an event that joined Moses and the people of Israel under the effect of narcotics," Shanon told Israeli public radio on Tuesday.
So, does this mean we should toss out all those thou shalt nots?

Thsi also gives yet another new meaning to the burning bush.

I'm just trying to figure out why this is in Open Mic

I think Moses was an alkie and was having the DTs.

Cause I was not sure where to put it. If it's offensive, then Daily Grind it!

Since the only evidence that Moses actually existed is the Biblical account, I don't see the value in accepting the Biblical account that far but not going the rest of the way with it.

Since most of the major elements of Moses life as presented in the Bible are generally accepted as mythological why would it be so hard to accept that Mt. Sinai is as well?

Nah - it was just a curiosity thing. I rarely even know what forum threads are in since I browse using the "New Posts" function.

And I am with Alex. From a factual standpoint, this claim has just as much validity as the commonly accepted stories from the Bible. Just because a whole bunch of people believe something doesn't make it a fact.

Many people believe that drugs let you see God and life for what they truly are.

I would have probably pegged it for Lounge Lizard, unless a debate came of it.

Let's split the difference and call it a day: Toss out the first four commandments and keep the last six.

(Note the 60/40 split. What can I say? I'm a giver.)

Well, then it becomes: which ten? Jewish? Anglican, Reformed, and other Christian Orthodox? Roman Catholic? Lutheran? Cecil B. DeMille?
