JUST felt an earthquake
About 30 seconds ago. Probably far away, felt 2 distinct movements, the classic jolt, followed by a slight roll a few seconds later. Barely anything here (and we're on the second story), but definitely noticeable.

Stop that nonsense right now. No earthquakes until after our visit.

Nothing yet on USGS...

The square just showed up on CalTech's site with no details. Looks like between here and SD (maybe a little closer to here), along the coast, magnitude between 3 and 4.
ETA: Okay, my location was off (3 mi. ENE of Newport). Magnitude 3.1 |
I ate a chilicheeseburger for dinner...

A minor earthquake occurred at 9:28:49 PM (PDT) on Wednesday, March 26, 2008.
The magnitude 3.1 event occurred 3 km (2 miles) NE of Newport Beach, CA. The hypocentral depth is 8 km ( 5 miles). |
If it's less than a 5, I can't feel it.
|
felt nada this far south.
|
Oh my gosh! They say animals can tell moments before an earthquake is going to occur, so, that makes perfect sense because at just before 9:27 (approx, one minute before the earthquake) my dog planted himself under the doorway. He could have at least warned me.

Felt it. Big bump followed by barely perceptible shakey shakey.
