Whoever has their Skype Status in their signature...
...it isn't showing. At least for me.
And it hangs up my computer. Am I the only one having this problem? BTW: I suspect WB, but I am not certain. |

Mine's in my profile, should I remove it?

If you go to WB's profile page, there is a large space for the signature which seems to to indicate that something SHOULD be there. Compare that to Alex's profile page (I don't believe that Alex has ever had a signature line) and there is no place for a sig line to be. Quote:

There is indeed something in Wendy's sig that's not showing up, but it's not a skype link, it's a tickerfactory link.

Hmm...
Just for giggles, I jumped around a couple of random threads. I don't seem to get the issue any more. What was basically happening is that all other elements of a page would load with the exception of a Skype status (a message in the status bar at the bottom of Firefox would say something to that effect). I don't recall the exact message, but if I see it again, I shall provide more detail. |
Sometimes the server ping for Skype that provides status hangs on Skype's end. When this happens you'll see what you saw. Usually it is transient though I've seen it last for a couple days before.
The graphic returned is dynamic based on status so requires more than just downloading a static graphic. I forgot they were there since skype is now blocked at work so the graphic just doesn't appear at all and can't hang. |
The skype status would be shown under the mojo guage (where the yahoo and AIM icons show). Unlike yahoo and AIM, vbulletin's got integrated functionality that will not just give you a link to the person's screen name, but also show whether they are online or not. I'm betting the error was on skype's end where the server that vbulletin gets that info from wasn't responding.
ETA: What Alex said. |
