Script Frenzy

Hey, all.

Tom and I started an exercise recently, and it wasn't until last night in talking to another LoTter that I realized that some of you might be interested in it, too.

Are you familiar with NaNoWriMo, the challenge to complete a novel within a month? That team has now developed ScriptFrenzy, a challenge to complete a screenplay within a month.

I'm finishing my pre-planned and partially-started "To Hide in the Strawberry Patch" (some of you knew it with its previous working title, "Yoga for Fat Girls.") Tom's working on one he's been thinking about for ages. It seems mousepod will be joining us too.

Anybody else wanna try to complete a screenplay in April? We're not doing it so much for the "badge," but as a challenge to yank us out of our inert state, to grab on to the new inertia that will keep us going with a positive schedule. I'm up to 23 pages of screenplay and an additional 15 of developed treatment.

C'mon. You know you want to!

What if you know nothing about writing in script format?

Sounds like fun!

Then you'll probably end up with a comedy whether you meant to or not.

How long does it have to be? I've always wanted to write a script where the hero comes around the corner and gets plugged in the first chapter....

Moonliner: I think they already did Sunset Blvd ;)

LSPE: This sounds cool, thanks for sharing! (And I always loved your title Yoga for Fat Girls, btw)

Strangler Lewis 04-06-2008 11:43 AM

Is there a limit on how far along you can already be?

LSPoorEeyorick 04-06-2008 06:48 PM

Well, a lot of people were fully developed but not scripted. I had a full treatment but only 15 pages or so of script, so I don't feel ashamed of claiming them for the project. (Mine'll likely be around 120 pages, anyway.)

I think it only matters to the person writing... so I think SL should join in!

If you don't know how to write in script format, there are a bunch of links and lots of people willing to help on the site. : ) (We are, too.)

I'm working on a script, but for the stage, not the screen. Still, it'd be a good idea to have a motivating deadline.

oooh, sounds fun. I wish I had a script started, or even a story i'd like to scripticize.

But, um, no. And with the April I've got going, the chances of me developing a script from scratch are NONE.

Good Luck everyone. Wish I could join you!!
