Al Franken Off and Running
This will be a race I look forward to following. I am going to have to add another section to my Google news page for Al Franken.
ROCHESTER, MINN ... Saturday morning, virtually everyone at the DFL state convention here thought it would take multiple ballots before either Al Franken or Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer would win endorsement for the U.S. Senate race. Many were even speculating that if it got to four ballots, Nelson-Pallmeyer could win. But at 1:15 p.m., the first ballot was held. There wouldn't be a second. Franken, who was supposed to be damaged goods, won 62 percent of the delegate support. And that was it. He is the DFL's endorsed candidate for the U.S. Senate and, barring some increasingly unlikely primary challenge, will face the Republican's endorsed candidate, incumbent Norm Coleman, in November. O'Reilly is an ass.

So is Franken. And Franken is apparently a tax avoider as well. Over 100K owed in back taxes.

I had read recently of a 29K judgement against him in NY that came up just recently, putting it over 100K.
Amazing that as it has become a scandal during his campaign he will be paying right away and it was the fault of his accountant. |
The great thing about having an accountant is that any mistakes they make they are responsible for. Given our crazy tax code, which Scaeagles is well known for having complete disdain towards, I think it is very wise to always have an accountant prepare your taxes. I would think it is very confusing to pay taxes all over the place like Mr. Franken does- most of us have a hard enough time dealing with our local and fed stuff. Much ado about nothing.

Geez....what I had read specifically was 73K followed by an additional 29K for a total of 102K. Yikes.
Much ado about nothing...unless, of course, it was a republican. |
Al Franken is a god.

Everyone knows Republicans don't like to pay taxes, so when they don't it's hardly news. Hell, when they give their business buds tax breaks it's no big deal anymore.
