McArthur Burney Falls

I'll have to post more on this later, since I'm still in the middle of uploading the Camp Swank photos, but I have the album up for my other camping trip (the one that delayed my arrival to Camp Swank). I'll come back later and post a few favorites, but in the meantime, enjoy!

On the drive up. I can only assume this to be Mt. Shasta? Not sure. Pretty though.

"Home". Not sure if you can tell, but those campsites are pretty deep. At the back there is a steep slope down to the river on its way from the waterfall (McArthur-Burney Falls) to the lake (Lake Britton).

My too-cute nephew

And again, this time with my brother

I forget why I took a picture of this particular campsite, but there, one of the campsites

And here's one of the cabin sites (no power(except perhaps the accessible ones), but beds with foam mattresses and propane heat)

The falls (by twilight)

Top of the falls:

At the top of the campground (and just prior to the path down to the falls), the camp store. Walking distance ice cream, mmm.... (fwiw, the ice cream bars cost more than the Smirnoff Ice, go figure)

Deer!

See the deer? It's right over there!

Morrigoon 06-10-2008 01:45 AM

This is the one I've dubbed "the postcard pic"

You can't see it very well, but my niece is just around that bend, messing with a cliff of chalk.

The main nuisance of this campground is squirrels. This little bugger came up between our chairs to steal a chip from a bag sitting between us.

My other brother, my older nephew, and my nephew from the first brother (oh, and something about a gorgeous lake...)

Morrigoon 06-10-2008 01:50 AM

Yeah, that lake...

Spooked the ever-lovin' crap out of my niece by dragging her along on a sunset hike to the pioneer graveyard (but not until after my brother - the one that isn't her dad - made up a darn good ghost story to go with it)
