It was nice knowin' ya...

Cool. Once I read Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle", I always figured we'd end our world as a result of some benign invention.
|
Oh well, at least if it happens it'll be pretty much instantaneous, so don't worry about it

I thought blueerica was YAGE-ing.

If it happens, I want it to be a black hole that will slowly eat the planet from the inside out. That would be cool.
|
Well, I wonder if that will put a damper on the world's mood.
Figures- we finally get happy, and now we're gonna die. |
Stupid doomsayers. Let's not forget this project is being designed and run by highly trained scientists who have staked their reputations and careers on this project. Of course we can trust them.

I'll say my farewells now, and party on.

I remember reading somewhere that the Manhattan Project made more than a few people nervous, including Fermi. They weren't 100% sure that they could contain the reaction, and all sorts of hideous outcomes were projected. Still, the experiment went forth and the rest is history. (I realize the results of that test led to some pretty horrific weaponry, but the test itself was a success and followed the scientists predictions reasonably well.)
