A Day At Knott's

Here's an album of pics from a day at Knott's :)

I dig the rapid-sequential coaster shots. The whole album was more fun than my last actual visit to Knott's, which occured a few years ago on a blistering hot, cloudless day, and left me a burnt, unhappy wretch of a person.

That was a lot of fun to see!! I've been wanting to go, but, I also don't like to go when it is sweltering hot and miserable. Thank you so for sharing!

This actually brings me to a quesiton I was wanting to ask....we're contemplating briging the family out, but were interested in doing Knotts and Magic Mountain, as we've never done them. Are they worth the time and money?

MouseWife 07-12-2008 08:46 PM

Well.....I have to say up front, I really love Knott's. I do not like Magic Mountain, personally. Too hot, too fast of rides. For me.

Neither would I like to do on a weekend. Knott's has so many special offers, on the weekends it is usually crowded {right folks? Or at least after 3 or 4 when the price drops?}.

I like the feels of Knott's. The history of it really pulls me in. If you've never taken the kids, if you do decide to go, it might be a good idea to research it. Samuel and Cordelia Knott, their history, the history of Knott's itself, it is really fascinating. Inside the park, you can talk about the buildings there, some are authentic and trasferred to the park. The awards some of the rides have won, and, what different things mean in our history. Even the train ride, that is fun. Don't tell them, but they get robbed!! Funny to watch people who've never been on it before. :D

Mystery Lodge, I like a lot. I admit, it always tears me up. Okay, but I'm a girl so I don't want to hear any grief over that one.....

An old time photo won't cost an arm and a leg, either.

The rides, they depend upon what you want to do. So, I can't really say about those. Wait, the only thing I will say, as I feel I must, Ghost Rider scared the crap outta me. So, I stick to the more tame rides these days.

One thing that both KBF and MM have in common is that they both have water parks.

KBF has a hotel within walking distance, check for specials, sometimes they offer a room with tickets for both parks as well as breakfast. I like that you can walk and it really isn't too far.

I hope whatever you decide you have fun.

{oh, and you can go to Sonic Burgers and the Disney Warehouse, too!}

I was very impressed by the Mystery Lodge. Really an unheralded but terrific attraction.

If your kids like thrills, you MUST visit SFMM.

A Day At Knott's

Go on a weekday rather than weekend. That way it is less crowded. We did encounter some day camps but they were leaving around 4:30pm 5pmish to go back so it was a bit better once they left but otherwise we didn't wait more than 30 minutes for most popular rides (ghostrider, sierra sidewinder) that sort of thing. Skipped Bigfoot Rapids since there was a line other than at the beginning of the morning and Perils Plunge i skipped on purpose. But other than that we rode almost all the coasters twice with the exception of Pony Express, Sierra Sidewinder, Jaguar and Silver Bullet. But Knott's is a place to just take in the atmosphere. We were lucky the day was humid and hot but without that breeze i would have died. If it had been any hotter out. Plus i found out they have the store next to Mystery Lodge has stuffed moose (a new passion or collection of mine) lol...
