The Real Tuesday Weld

So I won tickets to see the Real Tuesday Weld

For tonight

at 6PM

At the Roxy (or "On the Rox)

Intimate live performance, free valet parking, full bar, catered food

Meet & Greet to follow

There's a chance I could make it, but it's a push, I wouldn't go to the park, and I'm not dressed for swanky clubbing

I have til 3PM to decide

Help me people of LoT

Sadly, I declined the offer - I'll see them tomorrow for free downtown and have a picnic to boot so I'm not losing that much.

I will however, go to the park tonight

So I missed the private show, but I made it to the Grand Performances show last night. What a treat, I'm so happy I went.

I took the Metro after work and got there early which meant I got a bit of a private performance as the band went through a couple numbers during their sound check.

The venue was fantastic. All I knew was outdoors and granite floors. The website mentioned chairs and tables and picnicking were allowed, so I assumed a "hard" cemetery screening experience. But when I got there I found rows of empty seats and a number of places adjacent to the venue open during the performance to get food, drink, massages, whatever.

The other cool thing of the evening was the opening band, Lal Meri. Now I found out earlier in the week that this was a band that Carmen Rizzo was attached to, so I was eager to see them, and when I heard their sound check, I just knew we were in for a great evening.

Sort of a Bollywood chill, I was in heaven. Of course, sponsored by KCRW, their album won't be available till January, but you can bet it will be on my to-buy list.

I would have been happy just seeing them, but then the Real Tuesday Weld came on and blew me away with their live performance.

Which included numerous animations and visuals that were awsome to see on their own, which created the dilema for me of what to photograph, the band of the screen.

I will definately see them again when I have the chance - oh and a nice piece of synergy, they did a variation of Singing in the Rain, a fine preparation for seeing Clockwork Orange.

Oh, and the whole thing was free - best Friday night value ever.
