It's a self-replicating 3D printer - it's like an Escher painting come to life

The link doesn't seem to work, but I'm pretty sure Heather & I saw this at an expo here in SF last year. It's very cool.

Link worked for me. I think this is a new thing - the old 3d printer used plastic or glue, this one (which doesn't quite exist yet) will use low-melt point metals. Awesomeness. :)

Until it reproduces itself too many times, eventually evolving into an army of robots which take over the world...

Got the link to work. This is truly cooler than the one we saw (I think it used some kind of plastic). I want two!

The idea for this one (note, it doesn't actually exist yet) is to use multiple materials. Both a plastic for the major components, and the low-melting point metal for circuitry.
