TV dead?

Our TV here at the office, an older 35 inch tv, is currently showing just a thin, maybe 1/2 inch, line of picture straight across the middle. That means it's toast right?

It means it's time to buy a 60in flat screen.

Betty 08-08-2008 09:27 AM

We've got them on sale ya know...

Pirate Bill 08-08-2008 09:41 AM

It can probably be repaired for less than the cost of a new TV. But then again, it's also a good excuse to get a new TV.

If you do get rid of it, be sure to dispose of it properly at an electronics recycling facility. Some retailers will also take them. Electronics, especially CRTs, have a great deal of hazardous waste that does not belong in land fills. And some of it can be recycled.

OK; you just lost man points. To even SUGGEST that there is a reason to not buy a new TV pushes you towards girly-man.

Now you made me want to go cry and eat a bowl of ice cream while channel surfing between Lifetime and Oprah.

Apparently if you just leave it on for a while it starts working again. Or at least that's what it's done.

Capt Jack 08-08-2008 02:39 PM

On the contrary, he went the uber-manly "Naw, I can fix it!" route

That doesn't apply to electronics.
