Fireworks at disneyland at 11:30 last night

What's with that? A Sunday night at 11:30 is odd. Was it a test of a new Holiday show perhaps? Was Miley's BD party last night?

The Miley Cyrus birthday party thingie was last night.

Yeah, Miley's Sweet 16. Closed the Park at 5:00 to paying guests. No fireworks for them. Heheh, paying guests got no fireworks friday either, and they were late on Saturday. But Miley got her birthday werks. Hooray for her.

We saw them from the tram (we were at HoB and avoided Miley-induced trampling)

I read today that her actual bday is Nov 23rd. Holiday season much? No way they'd close the park then.

The odd thing wasn't that they were late, it was that they were from a different location than normal, or at least so it seemed to me.

They were a lot louder at my house than normal so loud that I actually went outside just to verify that they were DL fireworks.

The locals weren't too happy & gave plenty of complaints. Miley celebrating her birthday is one thing, but setting off loud fireworks close to midnight on a worknight is another story.

It was very short show, maybe 5 minutes. So they weren't exactly pausing for Julie Andrews lulls. We were on the tram during them so we could see they were launching from the normal launch zones, so it seemed. I think it was just more big shells with less average time between them. That and the different rhythm just makes them stand out more. Every time they come back from a break I think they've gotten louder, but I'm just less use to them than I was.

Well, Miley.....aren't WE special?

BarTopDancer 10-06-2008 09:27 PM

Somehow I don't think this birthday party was for her, as much as it was a product of the Disney marketing machine using her 16th birthday as a way to make more money off of her.

Things I heard about the day - she apparently cut her cake before they closed the park to the public. And CM's were supposedly told, "If you're not working, go home. Get caught hanging around trying to catch a glimpse and you're fired." (all from a thoroughly unreliable third hand source, so you know it's true, especially now that I've put it on the internet).
