Ju Koon Soon

Speeding towards walls
And center dividers
We circumnavigated
The Compass Points of PV

No t-t-t-time for T-T-T-Torrance
We passed the non-existent landmarks
Of our childhoods' and past lives'
Where we arrived at our destination

Not the one planned
But the one we needed to find
Where we could open the portal
An descend the cliff face

Trespassing on snakes
Stumbling over rocks
We gazed into the primordial womb
Of sea and starry sky

Here we gathered up our sins
Our fears, our insecurities
And whatever else had come
To weigh us down

We lifted them -
Some taking a parting tastes -

And cast them, modestly,
Into the darkness

The portal now closed
We could not get to the lost city
Its masked guardians
Watching

Peeking from walls
From behind trees
Or in their branches
They escorted us home

Was it a dream?
It should have been.
But the sand in our shoes
Tell another story

Excellent, Mr. Meinke.

With Louis IX at ear-splitting decibels, we headed off to the beach,
but driving caused too much fun.
Over the bridge we went to find the perfect spot to cast away our sins.
How the world looks different at night.
The skunk passing in front of us should have been a sign, but it went unheeded.
We stumbled on our tires over unknown roads searching for the sand.
Why follow directions of someone who always leads astray?
Nearly missed center divider, country homes of the formerly rich - who lives here anymore?
A turnout near the glass chapel
A beautiful half moon lighting the path through ticks and rattlers to the rocky beach where we cast our loaves and underwear away.
Were we done? I think not.
Point Vermin calls to us and we oblige but find we are not alone.
No trespassing in the dark.
Too many masked men watch us.
We're surrounded!
The Cheshire Coon smiles down at us.
Back over the bridge to make more lists and forget adventure - until now.

A swarm of raccoons! How awesome. What a crazy night that must've been.

Hahahaha. To come home at nearly the end of newly chistened* jew coon soon to find the exploits of Jew Coon spewn all over the Lot in poetry and imagery and memory has me in tears of laughter and joy.

* I don't suppose it's highly proper to use the term "christen" to rename the highest holy day of the jews, but it's what happened nonetheless.

My customized version of Yom Kippur in which we cast away not only sins, but all we wish to be rid of in the year just past and the one to come, apparently done on the incorrect High Holy Day, is now Jew Coon ... and as I wrote last night, the next Jew Coon cannot come too Soon.
