DCA Makeover Details
Here's an article from the OCRegister.
I find it interesting that they're keeping the swings. And, I love the change to the ol' Sun Wheel. However, with the makeover being all Disney character based, I want to know if they plan on keeping the name "Disney's California Adventure", because it's insinuated by the stuff inside the Blue Sky Cellar. I just don't see what the park will have to do with California anymore. |
Well, unfortunately, it will still be in California.
Except for the Little Mermaid ride ... YAWN. Oh, and for those of you who think World of Color is going to be great ... picture Fantasmic without any live performers and tell me how fantastic such a Fantasmic would be. |
World of Color is Fantasy Waters 2.0, right? ;)
|
It's interesting that they're going to try and solve their circulation problem by having guests trucked to the Tower of Terror area via trolley. I wonder if that will work? Also, I wonder if they're going to connect the ToT area to the new Carsland area. It looks like it might be possible...
I have a bad feeling that the World of Color show is going to be Fantasmic! lite. Or a Bellagio watershow with colored lights they're currently testing at the hotel waterfall area... Or maybe it will be the Dancing Waters 2.0 show. I don't know how to feel about the Sun Wheel. "Just slap a Mickey head on it" doesn't sound like going all out to fix that area. And, of course, the question that has been on everyone's mind, will they get rid of the Mission Tortilla Factory attraction? Only time will tell. ETA: Quote:

I hope the model is accurate in depicting no more "Blue Tubes of Stupid" on California Screamin'.

Excellent, I look forward to visiting all this new stuff. Although it will probably be old hat by the time I finally make it out there....

My attitude is anything will be better than what it is currently.
Although, a good fix would include a bulldozer and starting over. |
I really don't hate DCA. I think it has some really great elements. Unfortunately, those elements are not part of a really great cohesive whole, so I find myself going into DCA to partake of a particular attraction (and then leave), not to just spend time there as I do for Disneyland.
And no, simply adding in new attractions isn't going to fix that. But, I'm a bit optimistic. The changes suggested for the entry plaza, for example, including the trolley and whatnot, are what is needed to complete a transformation that would leave DCA a destination in and of itself, not just "the place where I can ride Toy Story Mania." However, whether those changes will survive and be duplicated across the park remains to be seen. |
