Yay! This will be way more convenient than hooking up our laptop. Now they just need a MUCH better streaming selection.

Does this mean my Betamax will become obsolete?

Will the streaming work on the internet channel on the Wii?

I think we tried that and it didn't work....or perhaps had awful video quality....

No, it only works with Internet Explorer. (well, and now TiVo and XBox)

You can get it to work with Firefox too.

And actually, I just did a google search and found at least one person who claims it does work on the Wii without even mention of a hack. I'm skeptical but it's worth a try.

Interestingly I've noticed that a handful of titles that are in my "Instant" queue have notices on them that say either "Available until January 1, 2009" or "Available until December 31, 2008". I wonder if the development of new distribution methods (TiVo, XBox) has caused some studios to rethink their agreements to make their titles available to play instantly.
