Converting Music From a Cassette

I have a cassette tape with original music that was given to me by the artist years ago. Does anyone know the best cheap or free software to convert it to MP3?

I use Audacity - it's free :)

More importantly than software, do you have the hardware? You'll need a line-in port on your soundcard. Don't use a mic port, it ain't the same. If you don't have a linein you'll either need a new sound card or a USB adapter (this is the best deal I've found for one so far.)

Yes, my PC has a dedicated audio-in port separate from the mic port.

One could also be lazy and spend money either by purchasing a device such as this one or using a service such as this one.

For one tape? I don't think so.

I was frightened to learn it would cost me 40 grand to convert all our vinyl
