I saw some similarly kawaii cakes in a keki store in Ginza back in February.

NA, did you see the "Hairy Birthday, Lisa" cake in the original post?

Ewwwwww I wouldn't eat that birthday cake even if GusGus made it (and her cakes are GOOD!)

Nope, give me kawaii!

I'm not a fan of cake, either (actually I am a fan of cake but people are constantly ruining them by slathering in disgusting frosting) but those are nice to look at even if I'm guessing they'd taste awful with thick coasts of frosting. I think the Japanese bakery a couple blocks from here do fancy cakes like that (and possibly the Ranch 99 bakery).

A recent purchase reminds me of how much I love Carvel Ice Cream Cake. Let them eat ice cream cake, I say!

Those Japanese cakes are darling, and may not be too sweet, if compared to other Japanese pastries I've eaten.

I'd guess they're spongecake which is indeed good. The frosting are still generally not good (to me anyway).
