Micechat loses a respected member this morning.

I hope that it isn't inappropriate to post this here. Due to the fact that there are quite a few former Micechat members here though who might not always keep up with things over there, I thought it was important to share this.

Micechat lost one it's most valuable members this morning, and I lost a dear friend, when longtime poster Tom Chaney lost his battle with lung cancer. He was 58.

Tom and I were on the absolute opposite sides of the political spectrum and, as a result, debated fiercely against each other many, many times. And yet, he was about one of the kindest men I've ever met and our friendship outside of the debate lounge was in stark contrast to our never ending opposition in public.

I just wanted to let anyone know who might have known him. They posted an obituary over there if anyone wants to read it.

Thanks.

Oh! I'm so sorry to hear about this. I wasn't even aware that he was ill. He was a very nice man and I'm sad to hear of his passing.

I will miss him, had lunch with him and his lovely wife at the Tam O'Shanter a couple of years ago. Wonderful man with a huge heart! May he rest in peace.

I met Tom a few times and he was nothing short of genuine and bigheartedness. He really was a nice guy.

My heart is definitely with his friends and family who have lost such a wonderful person.
