Lashpair - everythink OK with you and your house in Forester?

The news of the devastating fires has really captured my attention and I'm hoping everyone in our extended Aussie circle are OK.

Hopefully they check in this afternoon and tell us they are ok.

Are bears fireproof, I sure hope so;)

Well, some of the ones I know could be described as "flaming"... ;)

Hi all,

Just saw this now - everything is fine in Forster, and here in sydney it's starting to cool off now (thank goodness)

Thank you all for your thoughts and.... We can't wait to see snow.

My Pug Board has quite a few Aussies on it and the stories coming from them are terrible. I wish everyone well.

How far are the two of you from the fires?

lashbear 02-08-2009 11:56 PM

Luckily, at Forster there's a fair distance in between, but we were ready to mobilise, just in case.

In Hornsby there's hundreds of Km's distance, so that's good. The main worry was getting caught in a fire on the highway between Mum and Home.

So sorry about the fires, Lash. We get some spectacular ones up here- and lord knows California does as well- so we know how it is. I can't imagine how horrific it must be for those who are in harms way. I hope they can contain the fires quickly and get help to those who need it right away. :(

wendybeth 02-09-2009 12:12 AM

Oh, and still loads of snow up here!

lashbear 02-09-2009 12:48 AM

Here's a map showing where the fires were in relation to Sydney & Forster. We didn't even smell the smoke on the way back !

...not so lucky were the 65+ Victorians who died in their blaze.. :(
