Sci Fi Channel is changing its name to Syfy
 

Apparently "Sci Fi" is to geeky and they think "Syfy" is going to cure their image problem.

Yes.

It's a stupid name change.

That said, it is pretty rare for the Sci-Fi Network to show much of anything that Sci-Fi would want associated with it. And what little it does will be cut in half when BSG ends.

That said, while stupid there is a non-stupid (from a different perspective than fandom anyway) reason behind it. "Sci-Fi" is not trademarkable. "SyFy" is.

I suppose there was a time in my life where I would have cared about this but it's so far behind me I can't even see it with a good pair of binoculars anymore.

Is that channel still on the air? I had no idea.

It just makes them look like they can't spell. Like the way overdone replacing of the letter "c" with the letter "k" as if that makes something "kooler" than it was before. (see? just makes one look like a moron)

Never got into BSG, so I'm afraid I haven't even tuned to the channel since the Farscape days. I don't care what they call it.

But I think Psy Fye would be better.
