Oh, For the Love of All Things Holy... WHY?!

They're remaking Clash of the Titans!

grrrr....

I watch the original about once a month, maybe Athena will strike down the producers of the remake?

Gemini Cricket 04-12-2009 12:58 PM

Oooh. Sam Worthington! Cute! :)

Hades? There was no Hades in the original Clash of the Titans was there?

I would be all over this if they were actually going to return to the tradition of Harryhausen style "Dyna-Mation!" In fact, I would love to see a big action fantasy movie in which the creatures were stop-motion, but composited into the scene digitally. It would look really cool. Somebody please do this!

As for Titans, well, the source material is infinitely adaptable. The original will always have a home in my collection, and the new one, I will decide to see or not see on its own merits.

Here's a great article describing the "Dynamation" process that Harryhausen developed.

Having recently rewatched it, I just hold it up as an example of how I was a stupid child.

If it isn't a good remake it'll be forgotten, if it is a good one then more power to them.

I have never been able to sit through more than 3 minutes of the original.

Cadaverous Pallor 04-13-2009 07:34 AM

Well, they already redid The Time Machine (which I never saw), why not attack another of my all-time favorite fantasy films?

mousepod 04-13-2009 09:35 AM

I didn't hate The Time Machine... Clash - while great for the Harryhausen creatures, wasn't a great flick - certainly no Jason and the Argonauts. I'm not dreading this one.
