A guy has developed a file encoding method, using Chinese characters for some nitty gritty technical reasons, that allows him to encode an image into 140 characters, thus making it tweetable.

Obviously a lot of data is lost in such an encoding, but for a first stab the results are pretty cool. Here's how the 140 character encoding of a photo of the Mona Lisa looks when translated back into an image file:

I still think I'd rather have my nuts shaved by a lawnmower than participate in anything twitter-related.

Golly, and here I thought all of those times I laughed at something I read or wrote on twitter were real, and all the things my friends communicated to me over it actually imparted information to me. And the poor deluded soul I linked to in the OP actually thinks he's doing something fun and creative by taking on a difficult mental challenge.
