The Disney/Powers Family Tree
 

Hi.

I haven't been posting much here. This month was a constant onslaught of bleaaaah.

But what I HAVE posted (tweeted, Facebooked, etc) has been pretty blue. I expect it'll continue to not exactly be sunshine and roses all of the time, but for the moment, I think I'll share with you some fun/crazy information that I found out at the beginning of this month, but haven't felt up to sharing yet.

My brother, a pretty obsessive genealogist, was having some trouble sleeping during all of this, so he worked on researching another wing of our family (as his is often wont to do.)

Up my family tree, we'd previously known my great-great-great-great grandmother's maiden name was Disney. But what we did not know was that her brother was Walt's great-grandfather.

For real. I'm actually related to the man himself. Not a direct descendant, but we're both descended from the same people, a few generations back for him (and a few more for me.)

Wow! Walt's grandfather, Kepple Disney, was named after his grandfather, your ggggg grandfather.



Besides, Kepple, what an awesome name! (I just checked and it's a variant of Kepler, which is German, meaning cap or hat maker.)
