Spiffy cool thing I found in the trash- no really!

Anyone remember the meth lab they found across the street? And they locked down the house and it went into foreclosure and overgrew with weeds? Yeah- they finally stripped all the icky out of it and must be planning to sell because yesterday I came home from work and everything that had been left in the house was now out on the lawn.

Furniture, BBQ's, bags of stuff, aquariums, toys, etc....I rolled my eyes at the mess-and the kid down the block going through it.

But when we got back from some errands I decided what the hell, and went over to see myself. Our neighbor (from Belarus) told me all the good stuff was gone-I could see the BBQ's were gone at least....but I went to look anyway.

Most of the finds were fun but not fabulous-a coffee table with matching end table in great shape. Two aquariums- one of which is huge-and both in perfect shape just need cleaning. A dresser we can clean and paint for Ian. A painting Ian thinks is quite spiffy, and two matted and framed pencil sketches of Denver in the "old days" (ok, these are also very cool and I am giving them to my dad)-

But under some bags full of junk-buried and lying on its side in the weeds was this-

Squeeeee!!! I knew it was a sewing table- grokked that right off, and it was HEAVY when I lifted it. But then I got home and opened it up and just freaked out at my find-

The original instructions book too-

Squeeeee!!!! According to what research I have done this model (15k88) was made between the 30's to the 50's. I think mine must be a 40's or 50's style due to the electric cord and light.

I is a happy trash picker!

(will take some better pictures...urgh-was in a hurry and blurred them. This thing is well oiled and prolly still works. Big box full of accessories too!)

Very cool!

Our neighbor has a treadle singer and cabinet that I lusted after. Nevermind I'm hardly what you'd call a skilled seamstress. I'm still lusting, in fact.

Awesome find, gratz!

It's beautiful! My mom had a fold-down machine like that when I was a kid, but a more modern one. Not as pretty as yours! And the original manual with it? Cool!

Awesome find!!! Just be sure to wipe it off real good before you start sewing. ;)

Great find. I hate to be a party pooper though (yeah, me, I hate it) and ask if you're certain the stuff out in the yard was there for the taking.

When I was a kid a similar thing happened (not a drug house but the contents of an abandoned house put out in the lawn for two days) and it turned out there'd just been a gap between the people paid to come empty the house and the people paid to come determine if anything was worth selling. (The first group pretty much just left everything in a giant pile in the front yard.)

Police eventually ended up involved trying to recover crap from half the houses in the neighborhood.

It's better than I imagined! What a great find!!!!
