Movie Monday @ Orange County Performing Arts Center

Remember this? Free screenings outside on the side of the theater. Tonight they're showing Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Guests are encouraged to bring beach chairs or other easily portable seating items. Set-up begins at 5:30 p.m. with the movie starting at dusk (approximately 8 p.m.). In a continuing partnership with the Newport Beach Film Festival, a selection of the best short animated films from this year’s festival will be shown prior to the main feature. Guests may bring their own snacks and picnic suppers. Patina Catering will have assorted snacks and beverages available for purchase. Barbecues and similar food preparation will not be permitted.

Bah, wish I could go.

Seems everyone is trying to capitalize on the cemetery screening sensation. The Century City mall near my office has free screenings every Wednesday night. This week it's Raiders of the Lost Ark, but no matter how much I love that movie, I'm not tempted.

A few of us did this last year, it's pretty good. And now it looks like the film will be preceded by a short from the Newport Film Festival

Ghoulish Delight 07-13-2009 12:47 PM

Dang, forgot about this. I wish they did more than one per year.

After a late night in the cemetery yesterday I don't think I'm up for this. Which is too bad seeing as it's 5 minutes from where I am right now.

They do more, Annie is next week, then Footloose, then Mamma Mia

Not Afraid 07-13-2009 01:01 PM

Mama Mia would be fun. I've only seen the stage play.

Sohrshah 07-13-2009 01:03 PM

L and I are going, and we're bringing a picnic!

Me too! Somehow never got around to seeing the film. Even though it's got Colin Firth *drool*

So far for tonight, we have Lance, Sohrshah, and myself. If anyone else is planning to come, let me know (either here or ideally via twitter) and we'll try and hold space for you.

Tonight's clearly the best screening, under other circumstances I'd be there.
