Cirque's Vegas Acts to Play the Grove this weekend

For those in the LA area:

on Aug. 2, the Grove is really going to resemble the Vegas Strip when it hosts Cirque du Soleil in six half-hour mini-performances, each representing one of the six permanent Cirque shows in Las Vegas.
More information here.

OMG, guess who's hanging out at the Grove all day SUNDAY.

Ghoulish Delight 07-31-2009 10:02 AM

Oh, THAT Grove, not the Anaheim Grove. That's cool.

OUR Grove is THE mini-Las Vegas, complete with mini-Bellagio fountains!

That looks so very cool!! I love that they have an area for the kids and a chance to talk to the performers. How I wish I was there, well except for Believe I suppose.

ISM if you really do go, could you please report back what acts you saw! I will be forever grateful:D

Um, unless there's a tidal wave that comes 7 miles ashore, I'll be there.

What a complete and total FAIL.

That won't really be possible, as they didn't do acts from any show. There were costumes from the shows, and a few dance numbers and a couple of acrobatic featlets.

In truth, I didn't see them all. The 3 I did were beyond lame, the saddest non-things I've ever seen Cirque du Soleil not do.

If this was supposed to be a promotion for people to go to their aging retinue of overpriced Las Vegas shows, it was a Capital F fail.

Cirque du So Lame.

I'm sad to hear that but not overly surprised. Considering, at least to me, Cirque has been going down hill for a while now!

Thanks for the report though!

I really enjoyed Love, though it was really just choreography and pretty stuff with a little acrobatical thrown in occasionally. Most of my party liked it less, but I love The Beatles ... and I was really high.

I also liked Corteo a lot. So the last two shows I've been able to see have been good-to-great. Kooza's been out for nearly a year, but it won't be in L.A. till October. I haven't heard great things about it.

No doubt Cirque has likely passed its prime. But the sad mall thing was just pathetically unexpected.

They're opening a "permanent" show here in Hollywood next year. I really hope it doesn't suck.
