'Star Wars' Fans Wait At Wrong Theater
http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Movi....ap/index.html
Seven weeks before its release, "Star Wars" fanatics started lining up outside Grauman's Chinese Theater for the sixth installment of the popular George Lucas movie series. The vigil began Saturday. But there's a problem: "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith" won't be showing at the Hollywood landmark when the movie is released May 19. The studio, 20th Century Fox, opted instead to open the film a mile away at the ArcLight theater. Still, the resolute "Star Wars" die-hards aren't moving on. Beneath a makeshift awning, 11 people refused to relinquish their spots in line. :D |
Par for the course.
I think fans who line up for weeks to see the latest installment of Star Wars are a little too mentally unbalanced for my tastes. |
Do they not have jobs?
And if they do, how did they ask for this time off? That's what I want to know! |
The same thing happened for Episode II. Rumor was that the Chinese wasn't going to show it. Turned out it did anyway. So I don't blame them for not moving.

Any form of entertainment that makes you to put your entire life on hold for 7 weeks cannot be healthy for you.
|
Now that everyone's said such wonderful things, I get to remind you that our very own iSm is in line, right now. :D I think lizziebith is there too.
Yeah, they're nutcases. But I've camped out on the sidewalk for long periods before, and I can dig what they're doing, even if it is for Lucas' crapfest. I hope they have fun, no matter where the movie ends up playing  |
I confess to having camped out with Lizziebith for Return of the Jedi, and Episode I - Driving by last weekend those people seem to be having a whole lot of fun, definately more to do in see there than in fromt of the Arc Light, so I don't blame them for holding out.
|
I'm much more sympathetic to people who camp out for concert tickets or playoff tickets - something that happens and then is gone. A one time shot, or once a year shot. But to line up for 7 weeks to be first when they could be second and wait in line for 3 hours....don't get it.

I can't wait to see the new installment and see how the story is brought together, plus the batle scenes. In all reality, I am kinda sad. it is the end of an era. Good or bad, for almost 30 years, I have had something to look forward to. I have a gut feeling that :iSm: and lizziebeth know what they are doing out there and I applaud them. (also I believe there is some money being raised for charity) |
I cannot, in good conscious, rip on the LiningUp folks when I'm looking at spending hundred of dollars to celebrate Disneyland's BD, I've been to DL Paris twice, and I'm contemplating a trip to Tokyo to see TDS. Geeks don't dis other geeks.
