Ju Koon Soon???

Hey Everybody,

That fantastic LoT-inspired Holiday, Ju Koon, is Coming Up SOON!

Loosely adapted from the Jewish High Holiday of Yom Kippur, Ju Koon has evolved into its own celebration .... and I'm wondering what folks would like to do this year to commemorate this awesome event.

Ju Koon happens on, and includes, Yom Kippur - this year, that's starting at sundown on Sunday, September 27th. So anything that goes past sunset is legit.

The central event is Casting Away Your Crud into the Ocean. Bits of bread or bread-like voodoo dolls or locks of hair or anything symbolic you'd like to load with the energy of things in your life you'd like to get rid of or change are taken into the sea and cast upon the waves in an age-old tradition of renewal and repentance.

Last Year, we added a whirlwind Lost-Tour of Palos Verdes which culminated at Point Fermin (or is that Vermin) Park for the annual Raccoon Rally. I'm pretty sure we'll want to include this as well ... or, apparently, we can hold this part of the festivities in €uroMeinke and Not Afraid's attic!!

Then ... the idea is to (hopefully) come up with a new element for the expanding traditions. Often that's something we'd come up with spur of the moment (or not) ... but if anyone's got any great ideas, post 'em here!

And we need to pick a time and a place and get things rolling for Ju Koon 2009. It's Soon!!

:snap:

I shall check my calendar .... FYI the event is based off of Tashlich, which is a ritual during Rosh Hashana, not Yom Kippur :)

My wood is occupying half the backyard... he could hardly miss it ;) In fact, he has to walk past my wood every day. Just sitting there, leaning against the fence, a monument to happiness. Any visitor to my back yard would be instantly struck by the sight of my wood.

Quote that... if you dare! :P

It depends on how many of them are carrying wood.

I don't know. What kind of car do you have?

Keith and I discovered that you can fit 7 people into an old body style Corolla though, so I think more than 7 will fit in your car.

If we piled people into the back of the wagon, we could make a party out of it. But, do people REALLY want to be in my car, un-belted, while I drive?

As long as we cruise a parking garage currently under construction ... then YES! :D
