Produce on Wheels

A friend of mine in the Midwest just bought organic fruit and veggies from a converted ice cream truck that makes regular stops in her neighborhood.

What an awesome business idea! I wish someone would do that here in SoCal.

However, what music would be played to draw shoppers outside their homes?

That's a great idea. Like a little mobile farmer's market type of thing.

We've got something like that around here: Veggie Mobile

Cool idea!

It reminds me of a weird comedy sketch I saw of two guys getting drunk on a porch, talking about a how salad is such a pain to make, and that if you made a huge salad in your trunk and drove around selling it you'd make a killing.

Yeah, I have no clue where I got that from, and I can't find it online.

Hey DP: isn't this the same idea you posted about in July of 2008?

You're too young to be getting old ;)

Why yes, I did read "prudence on wheels".

It's been a long week.

Someone should bring me fruit in an old ice cream truck.

This is different though - no commitments or pre-orders. Just run out and pick stuff out, with no minimum to buy, etc.

Does the truck make lengthy stops at a time or is driving around trying to draw attention and stopping as people show interest (like an ice cream truck)?

If the latter that seems somewhat contradictory to many of the ideas behind organic locally produced foods.

Where this would work is at office buildings - the way some catering companies pop by with coolers full of sandwiches, etc. And they had a regular route of companies they popped by.

The song could be "Hang on Little Tomato" by Pink Martini.
