Snow White the platinum edition

Is this markedly different than the restored edition that was released? other than blu-ray?

It's platinum!

My detailed source tells me there are far fewer extra features on the upcoming blu-ray release than were on the last DVD release.

But I missed that one, and my best version is on laserdisc. So I'm getting the blu-ray. (In fact, I'm generally on a binge to replace a good number of my laserdiscs in blu-ray that skipped the transition to DVD. The result will be a bunch of my B-List films in the A-List format, and most of my A-List films still on DVD only. Oh well. I wish I'd saved a few 8-track tapes!)

I'll let you know. I ordered the MousePod version via Amazon.

I picked it up at Best Buy yesterday. (Don't forget to get your $10 off coupon if you have a VHS or DVD from a previous release- not sure if Laser Disc qualifies). It was on sale for $24.95, with the coupon it came to $15! ( I haven't watched it yet so can't comment on quality).

But here's the kicker-

They have a Blu-ray Diamond pack that has a DVD copy in it SRP $34.95.

Then they have a DVD Diamond pack with a Blu-ray copy in it SRP $29.95.

The continent list on the back of both show the exact same stuff, only in a different order. So, WTF? And both were on sale at Best Buy for the $24.95 price! I bought the Blu-ray version just in case, and it amounted to a $20 discount. But, is there a difference other than the size and color of the case (Blu-ray short blue case, DVD standard black case)? Do they really think that Blu-ray buyers are so stupid that they will spend the $5 just because they know the little blue case means a Blu-ray movie and should be more money? Or is it really different and just not listed on the case???

Usually, a DVD with blu-ray copy of the movie has the extras in DVD. While a blu-ray with a DVD copy of the movie will have the extras in Blu-ray, for a greater price.

I think, in this case, it's just the packaging. Odd.

I ordered it off amazon and it lets you choose which packaging to get. I think they're exactly the same, it just depends on which casing would look better on your shelf :) It is $19.99 on Amazon.

Option? Humm.. When I pre-ordered via Amazon (using MP's code) all I saw was:

"Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + BD Live w/ Blu-ray packaging) [Blu-ray]"

So that's what I got. Still, as long as the Blu-ray version of the movie is in there somewhere that's all I really care about....

innerSpaceman 10-07-2009 02:16 PM

Would you care if Amazon were offering the exact same product with different packaging to other customers for ten dollars less?

(which would, heheh, using the mousepod code, make it FREE!) :D
