I'd add that after the phone call and odd reprimands she pulled out something and started reading it, telling the older son that it was something very important that she had to read. Then she read and ignored her children some more while they ate.

For God's sake lady...if you don't have time to cook a dinner for your child (which is fine, really) then at least show them some attention while you eat said meal.

The best, though, was when she was on the phone and pushing a large slice of french toast into her face.
