I used to do the same with emails, but my posts are far more comprehensive now.

I have a dedicated gmail account setup for the sole purpose of archiving all the "reply to posts" email I get from Lot. It's the next best thing to being able to archive actual threads. The only real problem is that my own posts do not show up, just the replies (and not even all of those). However the gmail search function is much better than what Vbulletin offers.
