is the name of the incomplete title. It's written as "__ then Frome", so if you add the "E" it's "E then" or "Ethan". Yeah, that one was odd.

Yeah, I knew the title of the book. And that's the first explanation that makes sense. Sortof.
The fact that there's a Wharton book that comes in the space where the blank would be is confusing. Looks like they forgot one.
If "Ethan" was spelled "Ethen" then I'd think this one was pretty clever. But it's not, so I don't. I think "odd" is being generous. It's a significantly flawed puzzle.
