The LoT Commune

I thought I'd move this fantasy over hear and out of mousepod's southern migration thread.

If I were to establish a commune...
  • It would perhaps resemble more of an artist's collective, like Andy Warhol's Factory
  • It would be in an urban setting - near people, art, and culture
  • Perhaps a converted warehouse space - ideal for lofts, but none of this Loft/Condo business that's become popular these days
  • The ground floor would be the work/play space, certainly needs a performance venue, a small stage that could feature a band, a play, or something out of the original Cabaret Voltaire
  • And adjoining bar or cafe might be nice, a place to practice mixology and other culinary experiments
  • Some store front, perhaps to lease to finance the venue - or maybe even an enterprise or two of our own - used books/CDs/DVDs comes to mind, though with our tastes it might never be lucrative
  • Living space upstairs, I'd still want private "apartments" but with some common areas to house to share meals, ideas, and movies till dawn without disturbing those he like to sleep every now and then.
So that's my start, feel free to add more bullets of your own to our virtual collective
