So, I'm feeling a tad bit guilty. Back when we moved into our new place, a LoT member passed the name of her husband on to us. He's a service manager at Time Warner and he was able to help us get our cable ordered and installed with zero headache.
In the 2 months we've had the service, we've discovered that, well, we don't much care for the DVR that Time Warner rents out. It's rather limited in the features it offers, and it seems to be quite buggy. Imagine our surprise when research showed that we could actually SAVE money by returning Time Warner's box and getting a TiVo instead. Hmmm, no brainer, but I needed confirmation that the configuration I was envisioning would function as I expect it to. I tried emailing customer support, but just got a "Call the support phone #" response...so I looked up our earlier contact.
Yeah, I do kinda feel bad for having him walk me through exactly how to stop using and paying for his company's equipment. But when I showed him that I would be saving ~$8/month for a better product, he couldn't really argue with my motivation. I still feel a little dirty.
And if the poster who passed the info on to us in the first place sees this, please be sure to thank him profusely for me. He was wonderfully helpful, gave me exactly the info I needed.
