For the most part I think United 93 deserves the acclaim it is getting. But it is hard for me to go along with it as a great original screenplay.
In fact of the three original screenplay nominations I've seen, none are what I'd consider great because of the screenplay. United 93 is in how it was filmed, Little Miss Sunshine and The Queen in how they were acted.
They weren't hampered by bad screenplays but they weren't elevated either.
