Funny you should ask in the very thread that inspired me to one of my rare signatures (
it may very well be gone tomorrow, with no replacement for months).
And that is - I don't like my signature to appear immediately below the text of my posts. Were it a graphic signature, that placement wouldn't be a problem. But text right up against text looks bad, imo.
So, I force some space with the most subtle character I could think of.
