I hear ya. I mean, I can stand in front of him, walk around him while fixing the bed. I'll say 'Thanks for helping' and he'll say 'You didn't say anything!!!'
Oh come on.
But, my husband thanks me for
not doing his laundry. Many years ago, I washed his wallet. Then I washed his clothes in something and turned quite a lot of things pink. So, he has his own clothes basket and does it himself.
But, up until then, I did all of it. Wash, dry, fold, hang up, etc.
