You'd be surprised.
On the other side of the coin, I will hold the door for someone who's even several (or more) seconds away. I'm always surprised when very healthy people (usually at the gym) will look me in the eye and not hop to it a bit to get to the door faster, out of courtesy. I mean, sure, grandma's probably not going to speed it up, but little Ms. Fitness sure can.
On another note - as much of a believer in female power as I am -
men are more often (not always) more courteous at the door than females, on both holding the door and speeding it up when someone else is.
