Honestly, the only thing that will put me in a tent to sleep at night is the thought of rain, or just feeling like I need to be inside something, which is rare, at best.
My last trip up to the Sequoias, I slept outside. One night, it was storming, so I went into a tent, only to have someone take video of a bear in my campsite during the wee hours of the morning. The bear did some gruesome things to a couple of small critters, apparently, but didn't bother any of the humans.
And yeah, I'd sleep outside again, though I'd probably prefer it if someone else were sleeping outside in the vicinity.
